    • Size’s 4 or 6. I think that one was a Dai-Riki #285 Size 6. Great hook. I think it is 2X strong.

      • Thanks! Also do you just dead drift it, or swing it? I usually dead drift stoneflies and smaller nymphs but I saw a video of a guy swinging what he said was a carpetbagger!

  1. I do both. I do what ever it takes to hook fish. Sometimes on the same cast you can do both…nymph at the top of the run ( by casting upstream) and as the fly enters the downstream portion of the run let it swing across. Also when the fly is down stream from you at the end of it’s drift/swing and all, you should let it just set there a few seconds before making the next cast. Sometimes just give it a twitch or two as it sets there. I’ve hooked many a wary fish that way. Try it. Sometimes the fish haunt or shadow the fly. A little twitch or two can excite a reluctant biter.
