High Mountain Black Morels 5/17/2017

Another good foray! Tuesday found me trekking the step slopes of the southern Cascade mountains in search of the black morel mushroom of the Rogue Valley area. Wintery weather of cold rain and high winds persisted throughout the hunt.

  1. I was driving through the Rogue River Valley yesterday and noticed the blooming dogwood everywhere. Do you ever find naturals away from the river in the flats? Just picked a bunch today from slash piles around 3700 feet at the Two Bulls Incident…

    • Find them everywhere. Latest finds are at 4200 feet. Of course I only visit locations that are known to me and produce annually.
