Fishing the Carpetbagger Nymph During August

Another Rogue River fly fishing video from hot August. A look at fishing the Carpetbagger Stonefly Nymph for summer steelhead. Landing the steelhead for the hero shot was a gas. They never want to cooperate, and as Teri had by this time retreated to the comfort and shade of the car, I had to do it by myself.

Rogue River August Speycasting

Some August Speycasting on the Rogue River. High water, jetboats, hot weather and yet a chance for a hookup on any cast because of good numbers of early summer steelhead. Putting in some extra time with the new Cabela’s Spey rod before the arrival of the low flows of Fall.

All steelhead will go for the Carpetbagger.

Four Seasons of Steelhead Video

Tying the Magic Fly-Lockerz

A video on the four seasons of fishing the Carpetbagger Nymph. This video is of Wayne Van Burger’s Joy of FishingTV trailer for the Home Waters episode. Wayne calls the fly “Magic”. My own favorite flavor of the steelhead pattern is the Midnight Rainbow Carpetbagger. Actually the fly has been catching the attention of upper Rogue River steelhead and cutthroat for the past month and a half, and it should remain good all August. I’ll follow up with a series of “the fish pics” soon. Visit my About Page for viewing of the Carpetbagger patterns and colors recommended for Summer and Fall on the Rogue River.
